Entry Requirements

Programme Structure
Basic training (Phase 1)
Approx. 12 monthsResidential basic correctional officer training at a DCS College — law, drill, fitness, restraint techniques, first aid and DCS values.
📍 DCS College (Kroonstad / Zonderwater / Pollsmoor / Baviaanspoort)
Workplace training (Phase 2)
Approx. 12 monthsPractical service at a Correctional Centre under qualified field training officers — inmate management, security, rehabilitation programmes.

Permanent appointment
On successful completionTrainees who pass all assessments are appointed as permanent Correctional Officials.

Shortlisted candidates attend a centralised assessment: physical fitness (PEET), interview, fingerprinting and medical.

DCS runs full criminal-record checks, integrity assessments and a polygraph. Any pending case disqualifies you.
Pre-appointmentReport to your DCS College
Successful trainees sign a learnership contract and report to a DCS College for residential basic training.
