How to spot a Sasol job scam
Sasol is one of the most-impersonated SA employer brands. A scam looks like:
- Unsolicited "job offer" via WhatsApp, SMS, Gmail or Facebook with no application from you
- Requests for upfront payment (medical, training, uniform, courier, "clearance certificate")
- Emails from generic domains (sasolrecruitment@gmail.com, careers-sasol@outlook.com) instead of @sasol.com
- Fake "appointment letters" on Sasol letterhead sent before any interview
- Requests for banking details, ID copies, or copies of bank cards by email
- Instructions to courier documents to a PO Box
- Job ads on Facebook groups linking to non-Sasol websites
A legitimate Sasol offer:
- You applied first via jobs.sasol.com, or were contacted by an authorised Sasol recruiter through the official Sasol LinkedIn page
- Emails come from a firstname.lastname@sasol.com address
- You went through the full process: application → interview → psychometric → verification → medical → security clearance → then offer
- Sasol never asks for money at any stage
