Who can apply

  • Grade 9 minimum for NCV Level 2
  • Matric for most NATED N4+ programmes
  • Grade 9–10 for NATED N1 engineering theory
  • SA citizens for NSFAS funding (household income ≤ R350,000)
  • Specific subjects required for engineering and technical streams

What you'll need

  • Certified copy of SA ID (or passport for non-SA citizens)
  • Latest school results (Grade 9 minimum for NCV L2, Grade 12 for NATED N4+)
  • Proof of residence (municipal bill / rental agreement)
  • Parents'/guardians' ID copies (for NSFAS applications)
  • Proof of household income (for NSFAS)
  • All copies must be certified within 3 months

Step by step

  1. Open the EETC application portal

Go to eec.edu.za and start the new student application. EETC uses a three-step process — career guidance assessment + Pre-Entry Placement Test + the application form itself.
  2. Complete the Career Guidance Exploration

An online assessment that helps the system match you to appropriate programmes. Do this yourself — don't let someone else complete it on your behalf.
  3. Sit the Pre-Entry Placement Test (PLP)

PLP screening with a guidance video. The system uses this to gate which programmes you're eligible for.
  4. Complete the Online Application Form

Fill in your details, select your campus and programme, and upload documents. The system rejects incomplete profiles — make sure you finish all three steps.
  5. Submit before 15 April 2026

2026 application window is 15 March – 15 April 2026. Late applications typically go to mid-year intake if space allows.
Tip: Application fee isn't published on the official site — confirm with admissions on 011 730 6600.
  6. Apply for NSFAS separately

Apply at my.nsfas.org.za. EETC is NSFAS-accredited. See our NSFAS guide.
  7. Register on campus

Once accepted, bring original ID + all certified copies to registration day. Pay the R261 registration fee + R90 student card fee (or present NSFAS approval letter).
Tip: Returning students use the EEC4ME portal at ienabler.eec.edu.za — not the new student application.

NSFAS at EETC

EETC is a fully NSFAS-accredited TVET college. NSFAS provides a 100% bursary covering tuition, learning materials, transport and personal allowances for qualifying SA students with combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per year (R600,000 with disability).

Apply at nsfas.org.za — not directly to the college. The college's bursary office assists with queries.

The Artisan & Skills Development Centre (ASDC)

EETC's flagship artisan production facility at 10 Argon Street, Fulcrum, Springs. Established 2015/2016, features a state-of-the-art electrical workshop and hosts the Dual System Pilot Project (DSPP) — a 3-year apprenticeship in electrical and plumbing trades.

  • Electrician
  • Plumber
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Boilermaker

Residence / accommodation

EETC is predominantly a walk-in / commuter college — there is no formal on-campus residence advertised on the official EEC website. Students typically arrange private accommodation in Springs, Brakpan, Benoni, Kwa-Thema or Daveyton.

Bursaries / sponsorships

  • NSFAS (primary funding stream)
  • MERSETA, CETA, FoodBev SETA learnerships through ASDC
  • Gibela Rail Apprenticeships — local employer partnership in Dunnottar (rail manufacturing)
  • Funza Lushaka, Transnet, Eskom bursaries open to qualifying engineering students externally

Common application issues

  • Confusing EETC with Ekurhuleni West TVET College (Kempton Park / Tembisa)
  • Forgetting to complete all 3 application steps (career guidance + PLP assessment + application form) — system rejects incomplete profiles
  • Uploading uncertified documents or certifications older than 3 months
  • NSFAS applications submitted to the college instead of nsfas.org.za
  • Lost EEC4ME credentials — requires campus IT desk reset
  • Late applications after 15 April typically deferred to mid-year intake (where available)
