Who can apply
- South African citizens, permanent residents, refugees and international applicants
- NSC or IEB equivalent meeting the specific programme's requirements
- Online applications only - CPUT does not process manual or paper applications
- A maximum of three programme choices per application cycle
- A fresh application is required each cycle - previous applications do not roll over
- No second-semester undergraduate intake
What you'll need
- Certified copy of your SA ID (or passport for international applicants)
- Certified copy of your latest Grade 11 or Grade 12 results
- Certified copy of your matric certificate if you have already completed school
- Proof of payment of the application fee where one applies
- Sworn translation of any document not in English
- Supporting documents for specific programmes (portfolio, medical report) where required

Find your programme's deadline first
CPUT has four different closing dates depending on the qualification. Check the table below before anything else - health sciences closed on 30 June 2026.Tip: Non-SA applicants have an earlier general deadline: 31 August rather than 30 September. -
Apply online - it is free and it is the only option
CPUT states there are no fees payable for the online application, and that manual or paper applications will not be processed for either national or international applicants. -
Pick up to three programmes
CPUT allows a maximum of three programme choices per cycle. Choose deliberately - a realistic backup alongside your first choice. -
Use the online prospectus
CPUT's 2027 prospectus is at prospectus.cput.ac.za, with admission requirements published per programme. -
Prepare your supporting documents
CPUT publishes a specific 2027 supporting-documentation list on its site. Get certified copies ready before you start, since incomplete applications stall.

Online only, three choices, every cycle
Three CPUT rules that differ from other universities:
- Online only. Paper applications are not processed at all, for anyone.
- Three programmes maximum per application cycle.
- No rollover. A fresh application is required each cycle, and there is no second-semester undergraduate intake.
